Howard House is the practice of Peter Ashby (P.A.) Howard — a Louisville native with over 25 years in fine art, antiques, and collectibles. His career began at Sotheby's New York in 1998 as a Furniture and Decorative Arts Generalist. P.A. is an Accredited Member, Appraisers Association of America, and is trained and fully compliant in the USPAP. The practice is based in Palm Beach, Louisville, and Sun Valley.

Extensive experience across English, Continental and American furniture and decorative arts; 19th century, modern and contemporary art; sports memorabilia — vintage and modern cards, signed and game-used pieces, and general memorabilia; and wine and spirits. From single items to collections of thousands of objects.

How We Work

A considered, four-step process.

    Intake & Scope

    A brief conversation to understand the intended use of the appraisal — insurance, estate, donation, or planning — and to define what will be appraised.

  2. II.

    On-Site Inspection

    Careful examination, measurement, and photography of each item, on location wherever practical to preserve context and condition.

  3. III.

    Research & Comparables

    Attribution review, condition analysis, and market research drawing on auction records, dealer transactions, and specialist literature.

  4. IV.

    Report & Delivery

    A signed written report with photographs, prepared in conformity with USPAP standards — delivered digitally and, on request, bound.
